Second Workshop on Combatting Illegal Timber Trafficking

This workshop was organized in Yaounde by AADA in collaboration with the US Department of Environment and Nature and Department of Justice with the main aim of training local leaders to appreciate nature and stand against illegal trafficking of the forest resources. The opening ceremony to this seminar was presided over by the Second Secretary General of the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, Mr Tadoum Martin representing the Minister. The workshop was intended to encourage sustainable management of the forest, promote local transformation of timber develop rural communities and above all combat illegal logging. This as postulated will go a long way to provide job opportunities for Cameroonian youths who today are hard-hit by the problem of unemployment and under development. The seminar lasted for four days and participants shared many experiences on illegal trafficking and promised to join hands against illegal logging when and where necessary. At the end, all participants were awarded attestations.
